ABOUT ME

I am a new arrival to Victoria, and am excited to start my own Doula company here. I am a recent transplant from Vancouver, where I have worked for 5 years as a Postpartum and Birth Doula.

As a Postpartum Doula, I worked with MotherMe doula services, helping more than 60 families adjust to welcoming a new baby into their family. In this capacity, I worked both in the hospital and at home, helping women welcome singletons, twins, premature babies, babies born through cesarian birth, babies born at home, mothers with elevated maternal age, single mothers and already established families. I have worked MANY night and day shifts, given advice, rest and peace of mind to both mothers and fathers - and of course, all the baby cuddles!
As a Birth Doula, I worked with a wonderful team at North Shore Doulas to help women labour with strength as they brought their new baby into the world. I encouraged and educated women and their partners in the decisions that would allow them to birth their babies as best they wished. I provided physical and emotional support throughout the pregnancy, labour and postpartum. There is no moment in life as incredible as the birth of life!

When I first considered training to become a doula, I thought that perhaps the event was too private and meant only for the mother and her partner. However, after supporting mothers through pregnancy and birth, I now realize the importance of a caring, professional birth team. I live for that moment when people, who were once individuals, become a new family in the presence of a tiny newborn. It is a privilege to be invited into the intimacy of such an important moment in the family's story.
How I Can
Help You
Birth Doula
Postpartum Doula
This services includes prenatal visits (usually 1 or 2), being on-call until the birth of your baby (or babies), support during labour and help transitioning into the postpartum period. I will be available to you by phone, text and email for any questions you may have throughout your pregnancy.

During our prenatal visits I will help you to develop a birth plan, discuss your preferences for pain management as well as your rights as a birthing mother. Whether you choose to give birth at home or in a hospital I believe that you are in control of your body and know what is best for you and your baby. After your baby is born we will stay with you to assist in initial breastfeeding and until you feel comfortable and secure. My postpartum visit will be an opportunity to discuss your birth experience as well as to answer any questions you may have about breastfeeding, newborn care and, more importantly self-care. We will continue to be available to you by phone or email as required.
As a postpartum doula I can help with a variety of things: soothing baby (or babies), breastfeeding support, newborn care, emotional/physical support during postpartum healing, baby-wearing, sibling adjustment, light housekeeping/meal-prep, etc... - pretty much whatever it is you need to help you adjust to your new baby and your new role. It is common for me to be hired to help during recovery from a cesarean birth, both in the hospital and at home.
This service can include daytime or overnight support. Daytime is preferable to help Mums and Dads become comfortable in their roles as parents, help with babies needing extra attention, get errands done or even squeeze in a nap. Overnight is popular with new parents looking to get a good night's sleep in order to completely rock parenting the next day. I can work with you to figure out what will work best for both you and your baby.
